It was actually…

night before last. I’m not sure if I actually knew I was dreaming, or if I dreamed I knew I was dreaming, but in the dream, I knew I had to get up extra early to get certain things accomplished (true in real life, too, which may have precipitated the dream). It’s confusing to try to describe, because it was basically a series of dreams within the dream of me waking up to different distractions that kept me from getting done what I needed to do. It was after two or three mini-dreams that I realized within the dream that I was actually dreaming all of them. Well, the first one WAS a huge clue – I “woke up” to find Aragorn come to life standing there with several of the black riders. As their king, he set them to doing everything I needed to get done then pulled me into his arms. At least the dream didn’t follow real life where I most often find myself in Eowyn’s role instead of Arwen’s…

Another mini-dream had me taking stuff to my grandmother’s realizing I was going to be late for church. Oddly enough, it was after that one that I realized in the dream I was actually dreaming and I began trying to force myself to wake up, only to fall back into several more dream scenes before my alarm went off, ending the dream sequences. It actually took me a few minutes to realize I was actually awake and not in yet another mini-dream.

And a meta note – I’m going to be without internet access for the next three or four days. Back later. 🙂

It started out nightmarish…

with a phone call from an old friend. He’s always been one to let me know if he hears anything I need to know, although there have been times when I hated his interference. In the dream, though, I was glad, even though it did leave me worried – my sister was dating her ex-fiance again, without telling her that he was involved in a plot to get her pregnant, so that friends of his could get their “revenge” by killing the baby. I was trying to find her to warn her when I woke up, knowing she wouldn’t believe me.

When I went back to sleep, I was at my parents’ house, and convinced my dad to let me have my old car back so that I could take it instead of my current car on a trip (In real life, that car was totalled, but in the dream, it was repaired just like new). Then I’m in that car, and I’ve pulled off to the side of the road to talk to someone I used to work with. Then someone pulled up in a white truck to ask if another ex-coworker was around. I told her he wasn’t, but then he came up the road in an old van (nothing like what he actually has). She had my car blocked in with her truck, and she taunted me that I would just have to get out another way, because she wasn’t moving. My alarm went off as the men started to approach her to make her move her truck.

And so food returns…

I’m not sure exactly where I was, but I was staying with someone and trying to fix a meal (breakfast, I think, although it may have been lunch) for their children. All I could seem to manage was a bowl of grits, which worked out because the toast had already been made. Obviously breakfast, I know, but it seemed peculiar in the dream, which makes me think it was really lunch time.

The scene shifted, and although I was with the same people, time had passed, and it was already evening. Everything took a surreal turn, though, because there were other people in and out and it was perfectly logical in the course of the dream that the man I had been spelled (in the anime magical substance sense, not the witchcraft idea of a spell – I’ve read too much Ranma fanfic lately) to love had also been spelled to love me – but his spell had to be activated by Sprite. It wouldn’t have been a problem, except that another woman was already in love with him, even though he always rebuffed her advances. Regardless of her, I found a bottle of Sprite and soaked him with it. Then we embraced and it was settled that we would marry at some point.

I was at church…

and it was my church, but it wasn’t our building. Well, it was in the dream, but it was a much bigger building (more like the one down at the campground) than the one we have right now. It was also crowded, but it was still so that we could feel comfortable leaving purses and Bibles in our seats. The row I normally sat on was way too crowded, so when I got there, I picked up my things and went to a less crowded row a couple of rows back. A few minutes later, my pastor’s wife followed me in doing the same thing, but it was because she’d wanted to sit with me, not from claustrophobia.

Then church was over in the next scene, and we were having some type of dinner. I was sitting across from D (who has become a friend since her family started coming a few months ago – I’m as comfortable with her as I am people I’ve known for years.), and she was asking me when I was leaving. I explained to her that I’d kinda be in and out of the office this week, kinda giving my replacement a safety net with me close by if needed, and she nodded about that being a good idea. Then I told her I was leaving after that. Then I realized my dad – for whom this is a sore subject (both in dream and reality) was sitting beside me.

This was a much better dream than the one I had while we were starting the church. It was before I’d been able to see the building we would be in (the one we’re still in) and at a time when I knew nothing about the building except the town it was in. It was an old community house in the dream (one reason the dream spooked me so much – I found out a few days later that the building we got really IS an old community house), although bigger than the one we got. It was also crowded, which would have been great if the people taking part in the service had believed the way we do – it was obvious that the church had become charismatic instead of holiness at some point. That’s one dream I’m thankful proved to be false.

It was some type…

of amusement park/game place type thing. The whole place was set up like a cross between a scavenger hunt and a labyrinth. You had to solve the clues or complete some type of obscure task to go to the next room – kinda like notpr0n or God tower translated from the internet to a real-life 3-d setting.

It started out pretty fun, and I was helping a young girl barely on the cusp of reading. For some reason, we had to put a certain sentence on the wall, and she had already written it out, but was frustrated because we couldn’t get any farther. Then I noticed she had mispelled “shall”, but I couldn’t get her to believe me when I tried to tell her.

Eventually, I appealed to someone I knew in the group ahead of us (we could see into the next room, just not go there) to help us. Apparently he did, because we were in that next room, and I noticed the clues were way too creepy for me, let alone for the little girl with me. They all began to have something to do with the dark side of Egyptian mythology.

I made a statement that I gave up on the whole thing, and instantaneously, I was back outside, as was the little girl and her actual chaperones. I warned someone in the group about to go in that it took hours to do, but she simply shrugged aside my warning with, “That’s why we came. We’ve got the time to do it.”

Then I learned that I’d been mistaken that the entire park was taken up by the puzzle maze, and I was in an “arcade” type area playing a game with pink and brown hamster like things. Weird, but a much lighter atmosphere than the puzzle game had turned in to.
